Trooper's Processional To Snarl Traffic Near Willow Creek Friday

Illinois State Trooper Christopher Lambert died on Jan. 12. His funeral will be held Friday at Willow Creek Community Church.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL -- Heavy traffic is expected along the roadways around Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington on Friday due to the funeral processional for Illinois State Trooper Christopher Lambert. A processional for Lambert will close down all of Barrington Road between Higgins Road and Algonquin Road, according to a Hoffman Estates Police Department Facebook post.

Traffic is expected to be heavy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Drivers are encouraged to plan for an alternate route.

Lambert lost his life after he was struck by a car while helping victims of a crash on I-294 on Jan. 12. Lambert, 34, was heading home from work when he pulled over to assist those involved in a crash on I-294 near the Willow Road exit. At approximately 4:45 p.m., Lambert was hit by an oncoming vehicle that didn't stop at the scene of the initial crash.

A visitation will be held at Willow Creek Community Church, 67 Algonquin Road in South Barrington, from 2 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 17. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. on Jan. 18.
