Two Charged With Burglary at Barrington Chruch

The men are accused of attempting to break into a safe at a Barrington church this past week.

Two men were arrested this past week after police said they attempted to break into a safe at a Barrington church.

Steven Olcikas, 36, of Island Lake, and John Ference, 38, of McHenry, have each been charged with burglary of a place of worship. They appeared for a bond hearing on Tuesday where their bail was set at $100,000, according to a Barrington Police Department press release.

The men are accused of attempting to break into a safe at St. Anne’s Church, 120 Ela St. in Barrington, according to the news release. Police were called to the church at about 4:20 p.m. on Jan. 18 and found both men at the scene, police said.

They were taken to the Barrington Police Department and then transported to the Lake County Jail.
