Visitation Set for Barrington High Grad Who Suffered Fatal Head Injury at U of I

URBANA, IL - A 21-year-old Barrington High School graduate died of a traumatic head injury after authorities believe he consumed alcohol and fell and hit his head in Urbana last week, the Champaign County Coroner told the Champaign News-Gazette.
Bret Vogt, a 2013 graduate of Barrington High School, was pronounced dead at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, the Daily Herald reports. Foul play is not suspected and Vogt’s death remains under investigation.

Vogt has donated seven of his organs, his mother, Judy Vogt, told the Chicago Tribune.
"He helped save lives by donating his lungs, heart, pancreas, intestine and kidneys," Judy Vogt said.

Vogt was president of the Illini Bass Fishing Club and played hockey while at Barrington High School, the Chicago Tribune reports. The Illini Bass Fishing Club shared the news of Vogt’s death last week on its Facebook page, calling Vogt as “a terrific angler, a fantastic president, a born leader, and an even better person.”
“There are no words to say except we will miss him. We hope the bass are biting in heaven,” according to a post on the fishing club’s Facebook page.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. in Barrington.
