7 Juveniles Charged In Brother Rice Locker Room Theft During Crete Football Game

Crete police said Crete-Monee Dist, 201U officials and parents who turned their children into police proved critical in bringing charges.

CRETE, IL -- Seven juveniles have been charged in connection to the visitor locker room burglary at Crete-Monee High School during a high school football game last Friday. Several Brother Rice football players reported finding cell phones, headphones and clothing from the visitor team locker room while on the playing field. The juveniles were taken into custody after police received inside information from witnesses and school district officials, Crete police said in a news release.

Crete-Monee District 201U cooperated fully in the investigation and provided critical information leading to the juveniles’ arrests. Police said two smartphones believed taken during the locker room heist have since been recovered and are working to identify the owners of the phones. Police also worked with Brother Rice football coaches and player to compile a list of items reported stolen, which included six smartphones, two “Beats” headphones and a pair of pants. No other items were reported stolen.

The investigation led to the arrests of seven juveniles, who have been released to the custody of their parents and guardians pending court proceedings in Will County Juvenile Court. The youths have been charged with a variety of offenses, including burglary to state supported property, theft over $500, and trespass to state supported property.
