Chicago Man Charged in Fatal Hit and Run of Grandmother
Chicago man charged with vehicular reckless homicide and aggravated DUI that left 42-year-old dead, police said.

Chicago, IL -- A Chicago man was charged in a hit and run crash that left a 42-year-old woman dead late Saturday evening.
Patrick J. Brazel, 27, was charged with vehicular reckless homicide and aggravated DUI, both felonies, and misdemeanor DUI of alcohol. Brazel was also issued traffic citations.

Brazel allegedly struck two pedestrians in the 5500 block of South Archer Avenue as they cross the street.
Guadalupe Chavez Dean, 42, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was later pronounced dead.

Dean’s 39-year-old male friend was taken to MacNeal Hospital and was treated and released for his injuries.
Police said Brazel fled the scene and was apprehended in the 5800 block of South Rutherford Avenue, where he was taken into custody.
He was arrested after being positively identified as the driver who struck Dean and her friend, police said.
According to news reports, witnesses saw a Jeep drive off and were able to get the license plate.
Brazel is due to appear Tuesday in bond court in the Leighton Criminal Court Building at 26th and California.
