No One Charged With DUI During District 22 Crackdown

But several people were ticketed for seat belt and unsafe vehicle violations and three vehicles were towed last Friday night.

CHICAGO, IL - The DUI crackdown Chicago police conducted in the 22nd District last Friday ended without anyone being charged with drunk driving. The saturation patrol, which was based in the Morgan Park neighborhood late at night on Jan. 26 and into the morning hours of Jan. 27, totaled 0 DUI arrests, but a total of 80 citations were handed out by Chicago police in the district during the time period.

Police issued 29 unsafe vehicle violations, 10 seat belt violations, nine insurance violations, eight driver's license violations and 24 other violations. Three vehicles were also towed during the crackdown, according to police.

From 7 p.m. until 3 a.m., additional patrols were deployed to the district and police officers were equipped with a breath alcohol testing unit to speed up the process of charging a drunk driver with a DUI.
