Pink Beer Returns To Horse Thief Hollow For Mother's Day
Proceeds from "Pink Pom Pom" sales at Horse Thief Hollow will benefit the Beverly Breast Cancer Walk and Little Company of Mary Hospital.

CHICAGO, IL - Mother's Day has become one of the biggest days of the year in the Beverly/Morgan Park neighborhood and in recent years the "Pink Pom Pom" beer at Horse Thief Hollow has become part of the tradition. Owner Neil Byers will brew the beer specifically for Mother's Day for the fifth year in 2018, with proceeds going to benefit the Beverly Breast Cancer Walk and Little Company of Mary Hospital.
The beer, a pomegranate and cherry Hefeweizen, is a German wheat beer. Byers and his chief brewer Dave tested several juices — including strawberry and raspberry — before settling on the cherry and pomegranate combo in their final recipe.
“Pom juice delivers a tart bite, while the cherry brings some sweetness,” Byers said. “There’s a great balance of tart, sweet, soft, and refreshing.”

Proceeds from all Pink Pom Pom sales at the brewery on Sunday will support patients at Little Company who could not otherwise afford it. The brewery's effort will complement the goal of the Beverly Breast Cancer Walk, which benefits the Cancer Center, Comprehensive Breast Health Center and radiology department at Little Company of Mary.
Pink Pom Pom will pair well with a Mother's Day brunch that will likely feature a Southern or Latin flavor. Bar Manager Lizzy Benner may also offer some unique brunch cocktails to provide variety from the craft beers they brewery is known for.
