BUFFALO GROVE, IL — While police remain tight-lipped on specific details from a possible murder-suicide that left three Buffalo Grove adults and two small children dead earlier this week, Lake County court records indicate a long history of court proceedings including a divorce filing, order of protection and home foreclosure.

The family of five was found dead Wednesday morning following what police are calling a "domestic-related incident" in the 2800 block of Acacia Terrace. Those killed have been identified as Lilia Kisliak, 67, Andrei Kisliak, 39, Vera Kisliak, 36, Vivian Kisliak, 6, and Amilia Kisliak, 4.

According to court records, Andrei Kisliak and Vera Kisliak were married and the parents of Vivian and Amilia. The couple had filed for divorce in July.

During a press conference Thursday, Buffalo Grove Police Chief Brian Budds said the investigation is "very active and ongoing." He said there is no threat to the public.

Lake & McHenry County Scanner is reporting that sources have told them the man is suspected to have taken his own life after stabbing his two young children, wife, a relative and a family pet to death inside their Acacia Terrace home. According to the outlet, Lilia Kisliak was Andrei Kisliak's mother.

Police were called to the home at 11:12 a.m. for a well-being check on a woman after receiving a 911 call from her co-worker. Upon arrival, police were unable to make contact with anyone inside and forced entry into the house, where they found the five family members and the pet dead.

Molly Gillespie, director of communications and community engagement for the Village of Buffalo Grove, told Patch that police don't anticipate releasing any additional updates Friday following their Thursday press conference, which also included Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.

Gillespie said there will "most likely" be no further updates from police until the coroner's report is complete.

On Thursday, Banek said autopsies for four of the five family members had been completed. Gillespie told Patch the fifth autopsy was completed and showed the same cause of death as the prior four — sharp force injuries.

Gillespie also said the house was released Thursday afternoon and police are no longer on the scene.

According to court records, nearly 30 court cases involving Andrei Kisliak are either active or have been closed, dating back to 2000. The most recent court activity indicates a bank filed for foreclosure on the couple's home on Nov. 9.

In August, Vera Kisliak filed for an order of protection against Andrei. The order was extended in September.

Other arrests of Andrei Kisliak include contempt of court (2022), domestic battery (2012), resisting arrest (2003) and disorderly conduct (2003).

During Thursday's press conference, Budds called it a "sad day for our community" and the incident "unthinkable." Buffalo Grove police are being assisted by the Lake County Major Crime Task Force on the case.

"I don't want to compromise the integrity of the follow-up investigation," Budds said Thursday when asked for details about the manner of how the family members died and the weapon used.

On Friday, State Senator Adriane Johnson (D-Buffalo Grove) called the loss of the Kisliak family "devastating."

"When tragedies like this happen in our community, we have to be there to support one another," Kisliak said. "My heart goes out to the family’s loved ones, friends and neighbors. Our community is strong, and we can lean on each other during this difficult time."
