False 911 Call Made About Boy Swimming Alone: Buffalo Grove PD Blotter
The caller told a 911 operator they saw a 6-year-old boy swimming unsupervised at Green Lake Park, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Evan J. Rude, 24, of the 900 block of Lucinda Drive, Buffalo Grove, is accused of felony disorderly conduct for reporting a false alarm via a 911 call, and was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Feb. 20, in the 1100 block of Green Knolls Drive. Police and fire responded to a report of a 6-year-old child seen swimming in the water at Green Lake Park. A 911 caller, later identified as Rude, said he was driving by when he saw the child swimming. During the subsequent investigation, it was discovered the 911 call was made to be false and no child was swimming in the water. After his arrest, Rude was released and assigned a court date of March 7.

Heriberto Lorenzo Cruz, 36, of the 1200 block of E. Long Valley Road, Palatine, is accused of speeding 35+mph over the speed limit, driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 1:39 a.m. March 2, at W. Dundee and Weidner roads. He was released and assigned a court date of March 20.
METHAMPHETAMINE POSSESSION
Daniela Caballero, 25, of the 200 block of E. Court of Shorewood, Vernon Hills, is accused of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing a police officer, driving with an expired registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 11:42 p.m. March 2, at McHenry and Lake Cook roads. She was released and assigned a court date of March 25.

INCIDENTS
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, reported at 4:31 p.m. Feb. 29, that they had seen someone walking toward the door with a small grocery basket full of items that were not bagged. The man was stopped outside after he left the store without paying. He told the employee he was going to pay in the liquor section. He was subsequently given a trespass warning and adjudication ticket by police.
THEFT
A resident in the 1200 block of Deerfield Parkway called police at 3:30 p.m. March 3, to report they had two packages that had been delivered that day stolen from the front door/lobby area of the apartment complex.
FIRE INVESTIGATION
Police were called at 10:31 p.m. Feb. 29, to the Community Arts Center, 225 McHenry Road, for a report of a fire. They found a textbook burning on the east side of the building. There was no damage. Firefighters put out the fire without incident.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A resident in the 10 block of Willow Parkway called police at 8:49 p.m. March 4, for criminal damage to property report. The resident told police a window had been shattered, potentially by a BB-gun. The resident said they were sitting in their living room when they heard a loud bang near the rear glass sliding door. Upon investigation, they found the exterior pane of the glass broken, but still intact with a small hole in the top of the pane. Police also found a second window on the exterior of his living room with a small hole at the top of the pane.
