Stolen Equipment Damages School Grass: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

Police said a Caterpillar skid steer loader was stolen from a construction site and then was left abandoned at the school.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

  • Matthew Joseph Gryzlo, 52, of the 800 block of Braeburn Road, Inverness, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested at 1:07 a.m. Aug. 6, at W. Lake Cook and N. Arlington Heights roads. He was released after posting bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 24.
  • Juan Vargas-Fores, 43, of the 5200 block of Route 83, Long Grove, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 11:51 p.m. Aug. 7, at N. Arlington Heights Road and Bernay Lane. He was released after posting bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 24.

BOND FORFEITURE WARRANT

Noe Adrian Camacho-Leon, 27, of the 600 block of Pleasure Drive, Mundelein, had a warrant for bond forfeiture warrant out of Cook County for aggravated battery to a police officer, and was arrested at 4:29 a.m. Aug. 6, in the 160 block of W. Dundee Road. He was released after posting 10 percent of his $25,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 30.

OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH NO VALID LICENSE

Cosmin-Antonino Miclescu, 18, of the 10300 block of Houston, Texas, is accused of operating a motor vehicle with no valid license, and was arrested at 7:20 p.m. Aug. 6, in the 1200 block of W. Dundee Road. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Sept. 9.

INCIDENTS

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

A person called police at 7:33 a.m. Aug. 1, to report the catalytic converter from their car had been stolen while parked overnight in the 700 block of Weidner Road.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

  • A person reported at 2:58 p.m. Aug. 2, their car had been burglarized while parked in the 1100 block of W. Lake Cook Road. The person said when they returned to the car after parking it in the location that morning, they found the driver's side door slightly open and the center console open. They determined $4 in cash had been taken.
  • A person called police at 7:33 p.m. Aug. 7, to report their vehicle had been burglarized earlier in the day between 1:20 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Personal items were stolen from the vehicle.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Police responded to the 100 block of Manchester Drive for a report of a burglary between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Aug. 7. The resident found the front door of the residence forced open. The home had been ransacked and personal items had been taken.

THEFT

A person reported at 6:57 a.m. Aug. 9, a company-owned Caterpillar skid steer loader had been stolen from a construction site near the intersection of Navajo Trail and Forest Place. While police were en route to the location, they received a call that it had been found abandoned at Cooper Middle School, 1050 Plum Grove Circle. Police later found that skid steer had damaged grass/sod on the parkway area located on the south side of the school. The owners confirmed to police it was their equipment, but no damage had been done to it. An estimate on property damage at the school was unavailable at the time of the report.
