Thief Swaps Old Boots With New Ones: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

- A 40-year-old Zion resident is accused of driving on a revoked license, and was arrested at 11:33 p.m. Oct. 6, at Lake Cook and Portwine roads in Riverwoods. He was issued three citations and was released after posting a $2,500 bond. A court date of Oct. 21 was assigned.
- Lauren Bradshaw, 35, of Zion, is accused of driving on a revoked license, speeding 35+mph over the speed limit (81 mph in a 45 mph zone), operating an uninsured motor vehicle, suspended registration, and was arrested at 4:04 p.m. Oct. 7, at Lake Cook Road and Milwaukee Avenue. She was released on bond and assigned a court date of Nov. 18.
- A 23-year-old Westmont man is accused of driving on a revoked license, and was arrested at 7:27 p.m. Oct. 11, at Lake Cook and McHenry roads. He was issued three traffic citations and was released after posting a $2,500 bond. A court date of Nov. 18 was assigned.
- A 28-year-old Arlington Heights resident is accused of driving on a suspended license, speeding 26-34 mph over the speed limit (74 mph in a 45 mph zone), and was arrested at 5:04 a.m. Oct. 12, at Lake Cook Road and Milwaukee Avenue. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Nov. 7.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A resident in the 1500 block of Quaker Hollow Court South reported at 4:45 p.m. Oct. 4, their vehicle had been stolen from the residence.
RETAIL THEFT
- Police responded at 2:50 p.m. Oct. 7 to a retail theft at a business in the 1300 block of W. Dundee Road. A witness told police they saw a woman walk out of the store with a box of footwear. The witness said an employee followed the offender outside the store in an attempt to get her to pay for the items, but the woman refused. She left in a gray Dodge Journey. The store manager said she left wearing a stolen black and white jacket ($26.99 retail value) and the box of knee-high black boots ($34.99).
- The manager of a shoe store in the 1300 block of W. Dundee Road reported at on Oct. 11, that three days earlier, a man walked to the back of the store holding a shoebox. When doing inventory, the manager found an incorrect pair of boots within a box not matching the description. She further recovered a security tag ripped off a pair of boots that could not be located. She saw the man swapping the boots on surveillance video.
THEFT
A customer of a bank in the 1500 block of E. Deerfield Parkway reported at 2:12 p.m. Oct. 8, he had mistakenly left his cellphone (iPhone X) by the bank teller window after completing his transaction. He returned 10 to 15 minutes after leaving and discovered it had been taken.
THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS
Police responded at 8:01 p.m. Oct. 10, to a hotel in the 1500 block of E. Busch Parkway for a report of a stolen catalytic converter. A citizen told police he had parked his car on the north side of the hotel parking lot the prior day and realized the part was missing when he attempted to drive it. There are no exterior cameras at the hotel.
BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE
A citizen reported on Oct. 9 that they thought their wallet had been taken out of the center console from their car while it was parked in a spot in the northeast parking lot at Willow Stream Park, 600 block of Old Checker Road. The citizen said they had left the windows to the car open and forgot they head left the wallet in the car.
VANDALISM
The head of maintenance at a condominium complex in the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane reported at 9:44 a.m. Oct. 11, the parking signs in the lot were vandalized. He said this has happened several other times, and each incident has been documented. He told police he was going to clean off the signs. Officers canvassed the area and did not find any additional vandalism on the property or in the park adjacent to the complex.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT OF PROPERTY
An employee of the Buffalo Grove Park District reported at 3:52 p.m. Oct. 11, that he had found graffiti in the men's bathroom at Mike Rylko Park, 1000 block of N. Buffalo Grove Road.
