Emergency Dispatcher, 26, Killed In Crash: 'We Have The Watch From Here'
Melissa "Missi" Prosser was a former emergency medical technician who completed training to become a WESCOM dispatcher last year.
CHANNAHON, IL — The 26-year-old woman killed Sunday morning in an interstate crash in Channahon was an emergency dispatcher for the area.
Melissa “Missi” Prosser of Bourbonnais completed her training to become a WESCOM dispatcher in November, according to the agency.
“Missi was a wonderful person who displayed a passion for helping others, and quickly became a valued member of the WESCOM family,” the agency said Sunday in a Facebook post.

Prosser was driving around 3:15 a.m. on southbound Interstate 55 at mile marker 246 when she was involved in a two-vehicle crash, according to authorities, who said she died about an hour later at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. The other driver was also injured, authorities said.
Before becoming an emergency dispatcher, Prosser worked as an emergency medical technician for Riverside Hospital and Elite Ambulance, according to her obituary.

She loved her dogs, and enjoyed cooking, exercise, music and studying the Bible, her obituary said. She is survived by her parents, two brothers and her three dogs.
“Rest easy Missi, we have the watch from here,” WESCOM said in the Facebook post.
