Cubs Stay Winless at Wrigley Field; Indians Need a Win to Claim World Series Crown

CLEVELAND 7, CHICAGO 2: Pitcher Corey Kluber beat the North Siders for a 2nd time in Game 4 on Saturday.

CHICAGO, IL — For the second time in the World Series, starting pitcher Corey Kluber frustrated Cubs hitters, as Cleveland beat Chicago in Saturday's Game 4, 7-2, keeping the North Siders winless at Wrigely Field in the series and putting them one loss away from ending their historic and magical season.

While the Cubs had trouble generating offense, Cleveland had no problems scoring runs off of starter John Lackey and the four other pitchers Chicago used. The Indians hit two solo home runs, and Northbrook native and second baseman Jason Kipnis went 3 for 5 with 2 runs and 3 RBI. In fact, the Indians' Game 4 run total equaled the Cubs' run total for the entire season so far.

The Cubs must win the next three games if they hope to win their first World Series title in 108 years. It's not an impossible task. Five teams have come back from a 3-1 deficit to win the World Series in major league history.

Memorable Moment: A first-inning infield single by first baseman Anthony Rizzo that scored Dexter Fowler was not only the first run of Game 4, but it also was the first Cubs run scored in a World Series game at Wrigley Field since 1945. That's a lot of firsts in one at bat.

Moment to Forget: The entire second inning. It began with first baseman Carlos Santana's right-field home run to tie the game. Then third baseman Kris Bryant turned throws to first into an adventure. His errant toss allowed right fielder Lonnie Chisenhall to reach safely with one out. With men on first and second and two outs, Bryant cleanly fielded starting pitcher Corey Kluber's swinging bunt up the third base line, but a stretching Rizzo couldn't handle the wide throw. Kluber was safe, and Chisenhall scored from second to give Cleveland a 2-1 lead.
