Indians Shut Out Cubs, 1-0, Spoiling World Series' Return to Wrigley Field
Cleveland's Game 3 win on Friday puts the team up 2-1 in the series.

CHICAGO, IL — The past and the historical significance hanging over Friday night's game — the first World Series game to be played at Wrigley Field since 1945 — must have weighed too heavily on the bats of the Chicago Cubs. The North Siders were shut out by the Cleveland Indians in Game 3 of the 2016 World Series, losing 1-0.
Pitchers on both sides were stingy, but Cleveland's arms were just a bit stronger. Especially starter Josh Tomlin, who only gave up two hits. Even a late-game, pinch-hit appearance by slugger Kyle Schwarber wasn't enough to jump start the Cubs' offense.
After three games, the Cubs have been shut out twice by the Indians. Chicago was blanked, 5-0, in Tuesday's Game 1 of the World Series.

Memorable Moment: No matter what the game's outcome, the first pitch thrown in Game 3 would be what was unforgettable for Cubs fans. After 71 years, a World Series game was finally being played in Wrigley Field. The fact that starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks threw that pitch for a strike — and then struck out Cleveland's leadoff batter Carlos Santana — only made it sweeter.
Moment to Forget: After six tight innings of well-pitched baseball by both teams, Cleveland squeezed out a run thanks to a Coco Crisp pinch-hit single in the top of the seventh. He came in for reliever Andrew Miller, who had no-hit the Cubs for 1 1/3 innings.
