New Amazon Drone Delivery Service Revealed In IL: 5 Things To Know (patch.com) — Amazon is preparing to roll out its Prime Air drone delivery service to the Chicago metro area as part of a major nationwide expansion to nearly 500 cities and towns by year's end. Chicago-area customers will be able to receive many everyday items weighing under five pounds in as little as 30 minutes, with pricing tied to Amazon Prime membership and order size. The FAA-certified drones use onboard cameras and sensors for navigation and safety but are designed not to track individuals or provide live video feeds.
   

2. Chicago Mom Wins $400K On Illinois Lottery Scratch-Off Ticket (patch.com) — A Chicago mom named Claudia is celebrating a $400,000 win from an Illinois Lottery scratch-off ticket she bought at a neighborhood convenience store on West 55th Street. After repeatedly rescanning the ticket in disbelief, she's planning to put much of the money toward her three children's education and a back-to-school shopping spree. The win caps a streak of big Illinois Lottery payouts across the state this month.
   

3. Chicago Eliminated From Running To Host 2028 Democratic Convention (patch.com) — Chicago is officially out of the running to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, after the party named Boston, Denver and Philadelphia as finalists. The decision follows Chicago's high-profile role hosting the 2024 convention at the United Center, which brought major media attention, protests and tight security to the city. Party leaders are expected to choose the 2028 host city later this year.
   

4. UIC expected to address antisemitism findings (bigcountrynewsconnection.com) — University of Illinois Chicago is preparing a response after a federal investigation reportedly found reasonable cause that three Jewish or Israeli-origin faculty members faced harassment at the Chicago campus. Advocates say the EEOC's Chicago District Office findings point to systemic antisemitism, while UIC insists it condemns discrimination and will review the conclusions and potential policy changes closely.
   

5. Chicago police officer who racked up most complaints now faces firing — in two cases (suntimes.com) — A Chicago police officer with the department's highest recent complaint total now faces possible firing in two misconduct cases tied to a Near North tactical team. The Chicago Police Board sided largely with the Civilian Office of Police Accountability over former Supt. Larry Snelling, citing improper traffic stops and inaccurate statements. Other team members also received significant suspensions.
