Teens Who Carjacked Porsche at Gunpoint Picked Up After Running Red Light: Cops

No one was hurt in the incident Tuesday night in the Bridgeport neighborhood.

CHICAGO, IL — Two teenagers accused of carjacking a Porsche at gunpoint Tuesday night in the Bridgeport neighborhood were taken into custody after cops caught them running a red light, according to Chicago police.

Janary Fields, 18, of the 300 block of South Aberdeen Street, and an unidentified 17-year-old male were arrested and charged with felony vehicular hijacking in connection with the incident. Fields also was charged with running a red light. He's being held without bail at Cook County Jail.

According to police, Fields and the 17-year-old allegedly used a gun to carjack a 2017 Porsche at about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, in the 500 block of West 32nd Street. The victim — a 17-year-old male — refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

At around 8:31 p.m., officers reportedly saw Fields behind the wheel of the Porsche and run through a red light at 103rd Street and Luella Avenue. They pulled over the sports car, and a background check revealed the vehicle had been stolen.

Fields and the 17-year-old were taken into custody, and the victim identified them as the two suspects who stole his car, according to police.
