Veteran Officer, 54, Takes Her Own Life: Chicago Police
The 54-year-old officer is the 5th District's third death since July, and the department's 2nd officer this month to take own life.

CHICAGO, IL — A 54-year-old female Chicago police officer took her own life Wednesday morning, according to officials. Chicago police said the officer was found unresponsive inside her vehicle in the 5th District station parking lot, 727 E. 111th Street. Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted around 10:30 a.m. that a department veteran took her life inside her personal vehicle.
Authorities said the officer, whose name has not been released, had not yet reported for duty.
The officer died at the the same police station where two Chicago police officers died nearly two months ago, Patch reported. Officer Brandon Krueger, 37, fatally shot himself in his squad car July 8, two days before Officer Vinita Williams, 47, was found unconscious at the station and died at a nearby hospital.

Wednesday's death is also the second this month for the department, and comes just more than week after an on-duty Chicago police officer took his own life Sept. 3 from a self-inflicted gunshot, according to officials.
A Joliet Police officer in his 12th year on the force died Sept. 4, the city's interim police chief Al Roechner confirmed to Patch. Officer Daniel Rupp was 33, and doctors determined he died from a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities said he too took his own life.
