Escaped Killer, Armed and Dangerous, on the Loose

Manhunt under way for Kamron Taylor, who escaped from Kankakee's jail early Wednesday and stole an SUV.

A killer escaped Wednesday morning from the Kankakee jail, and police consider him armed and dangerous. Kamron T. Taylor 23, overpowered a guard at the Jerome Combs Detention Center at about 3 a.m., according to a statement from the Kankakee County sheriff’s department.

Taylor took the correctional officer’s uniform, keys and SUV, a brown 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. Police believe he also has the guard’s weapon.

He’s described as 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, and black. He was awaiting sentence for murder.

Police currently are in a barricade situation in Kankakee on South Lincoln Avenue, where the stolen car was found, reports NBC Chicago.

In February, when he was found guilty of murder, Taylor tried to escape. According to The Kankakee Daily Journal, Taylor killed a man in June 2013 botched robbery.

After the verdict was read, Taylor sat, then got up and ran. Bailiffs and sheriff’s deputies wrestled him to the ground, eventually leading him out of the courtroom as he cursed.

Prior to trial, he briefly escaped from the jail and was captured a few blocks away.
