MCHENRY COUNTY, IL -- Lightning strikes lead to four structure fires in McHenry Co. over the Labor Day weekend, officials said. The Northwest Herald reports the blazes all occurred between 1 and 2 a.m. on Sunday and included a blaze at a home in Sun City in Huntley, a fire at a large barn in Marengo, a duplex fire in Woodstock and a house fire in Cary.
No one was injured in any of the fires, officials told the Northwest Herald. The Sun City fire started in the attic and left the home in the 12000 block of Illinois Street uninhabitable and the blaze in the 20000 block of Beck Road in Marengo burnt the barn to the ground, fire officials said. The duplex in the 600 block of Schubert Street in Woodstock sustained very minor damage while the fire at a home on Oak Crest Road in Cary was also "relatively minor," according to the article.
