8 Suburban Festivals Worth Checking Out This Weekend

The weekend is almost here.

Kane County

Elburn Days 2016

• When: Aug. 19 through Aug. 21
• Where: Elburn Lions Park, 500 Filmore St. Elburn, IL
• What: A two-day festival in Elburn that includes live entertainment, food, drinks, a parade, carnival rides, petting zoo, tractor pull and more. Visit the Elburn Days Patch calendar for more information.

Bug Fest in Batavia

• When: Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Where: Lippold Park,
• What: Celebrate our 6-legged friends with the Fox Valley Park District's annual Bug Fest. More information via the Batavia Patch calendar.

Rock the Fox Music Festival in Carpentersville

• When: Aug. 19 through Aug. 21
• Where: Carpenter Park
• What: The three-day musical festival will be held Friday, Aug. 19 through Sunday, Aug. 21 in Carpenter Park in Carpentersville. There will be live entertainment, a beer garden, food vendors, and a carnival. More information via the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch calendar.

Lake County

• When: Aug. 19 and Aug. 20
• Where: Downtown Grayslake
• What: A two-day festival with musical entertainment, parade, food, pet and bike parade, bags tournament, go-kart races and more. More information via the Grayslake Patch guide to Summer Days.

Land & Lake Days in Fox Lake

• When: Aug. 19 through Aug. 21
• Where: Lakefront Park
• What: The inaugural festival will include an outdoor movie, cardboard cup regatta and a body art element, as local tattoo, henna and body art professionals will be onsite showcasing their handiwork. The festival will feature everything outdoors from boats (in water and on land), motorcycles, vintage cars and RVs to fishing, archery, BMX bikes, live country music, kid’s activities and more. Little Bear Ribfest in Vernon Hills

• When: Aug 19 and Aug. 20
• Where: Century Park in Vernon Hills
• What: Ribs and blues music take center stage and this two-day festival in Vernon Hills. More information via the Vernon Hills Patch calendar.

Lake Zurich Area Taste of Towns

• When: Aug 21 from 3 to 7 p.m.
• Where: Paulus Park in Lake Zurich
• What: There will be tons of food to taste and family-friendly events at the 10th Annual Lake Zurich Area Taste of Towns event. More information via the Lake Zurich Patch calendar.

Cook County

OktoberFest in August in Buffalo Grove

• When: Aug. 19 through Aug. 21
• Where: Schwaben Center in Buffalo Grove
• What: There will be German and domestic beers on tap, bratwurst, live entertainment, singers, dancers and other fun for people of all ages, according to the event website. More information via Buffalo Grove Patch.
