9 Crystal Lake Businesses Fail Alcohol Compliance Checks
Gas stations, restaurants and bars are among the businesses accused of selling alcohol to minors in September.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL -- Nine Crystal Lake businesses are accused of selling alcohol to a person under the age of 21 years old during recent compliance checks, authorities said. As part of the investigation, the Crystal Lake Police Department had a person under the age of 21, while under "the guidance and supervision of Crystal Lake Detectives," enter 80 different businesses in town over the month of September. The minors were asked to try and buy alcohol from the gas stations, breweries, bars and restaurants.
Police said the following locations did sell alcohol illegally to a minor:
- Crystal Lake Brewing, 150 N. Main Street
- Coleman’s Bar and Grill, 7608 Virginia Road
- Finn McCool’s, 72 N. Williams Street
- Krystal Thai, 230 W. Virginia Street
- Richard Walker’s Pancake House, 5680 Northwest Highway
- CVS, 1305 Randall Road
- Circle K, 220 W. Virginia Street
- 7-Eleven, 60 W. Terra Cotta Avenue
- Carlos Mexican Grill 3, 282 W. Virginia Street
Officers cited the clerks and employees who completed the sale to the minor.

An adjudication hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 12 at the Crystal Lake Municipal Center, 100 West Woodstock St.
