Boy Not Hit By Boat In Near Drowning: Police
The young swimmer was pulled from the Fox River in Fox River Grove on July 15. He is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – A 6-year-old Cary boy who was found floating unconscious in the Fox River earlier this month was never hit by a boat and instead suffered a near drowning, authorities said earlier this week. Police initially thought the boy was hit by an 18-foot Bayliner that was heading toward the beach at Picnic Grove Park in Fox River Grove at about 4:45 p.m. on July 15. Responding officers were advised a boy, who had been swimming in the Fox River, was hit by the boat.
He was found floating near the boat, which was driven by a 19-year-old Algonquin man.
But after a week long investigation, authorities announced Tuesday the boat did not strike the young swimmer. The boy was pulled from the water unconscious after suffering a near drowning.
