Buffalo Grove Police Hosts Drug Take Back Event

The prescription drug take back event will be held on Oct. 26.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The Buffalo Grove Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency will team up to host the last official prescription drug collection event of the year on Saturday, October 26, officials said. Expired, unused, or unneeded prescription drugs can be dropped off at the Buffalo Grove Police Department, 46 Raupp Boulevard in Buffalo Grove, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The police department also has a gray mailbox permanently placed in the station’s lobby where residents can drop off prescription drugs, according to a news release from the Buffalo Grove Police Department. On the collection day in April of this year, there were more than 6,000 collection sites throughout the United States. T

he total weight of the prescription drugs collected was 937,443 pounds with nearly 36,000 of it disposed of in Illinois. Buffalo Grove Police continue to collect approximately 20 pounds of prescription drugs every week, totaling an average of 1,000 pounds throughout the year.
