A four-month investigation yielded approved charges against him. If convicted, he'll serve up to seven years in prison.

WOODSTOCK, IL — A Cary man is facing sexual abuse charges after Woodstock police completed an investigation that lasted almost four months, according to reports.

Gerardo Gallaga, 61, of the 400 block of West James Way, was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a girl younger than 13, according to the Northwest Herald. He was charged on Dec. 13 and posted 10 percent of the $50,000 bond, buying his release.

The McHenry County Child Advocacy Center and the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office assisted the Woodstock Police Investigations Division, who was notified of the sex abuse allegation on Aug. 22, the Herald reported.

The girl said Gallaga had sexually abused her in an interview with the Advocacy Center before the State's Attorney approved the charges.

Police are withholding some details of how Gallaga and the victim allegedly met in order to protect the girl's identity, according to the Herald.
