Is one of your children having more difficulty coping compared to other children? We can help.

Just like adults, children react differently to challenges, and each child has their own unique set of emotions. Some children are naturally more prone to anxiety and are more sensitive to difficulties. Sensitive children may have a harder time coping with the challenges of childhood and social situations. Usually, it’s not something they “grow out of” and can create bigger issues down the road. But with the right guidance, you can learn how to support your sensitive child, help them develop healthy coping skills, and learn how to build strength and resilience.

If one of your children is having more difficulty coping compared to other children, we can help.

Helping a child learn to cope

With support and guidance, vulnerable children can build resilience. Children who are anxious and sensitive are not doomed to live difficult lives. With help, they can learn multiple techniques and skills that will allow them to reduce anxiety and build on their own unique strengths.

It is important for children to learn how to manage emotions. Fears and anxieties can easily overwhelm a child, especially if the adults around them do not understand why the child is reacting strongly or how to calm the child’s fears.

In therapy, the child can learn coping skills. As children get older, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) will guide the child to identify and reconstruct negative ways of thinking. Children can learn how thoughts impact feelings and that some thoughts can cause unnecessary sadness or worry. CBT teaches a child healthy ways of thinking that will build resilience and reduce the chances of developing more serious mental health issues such as depression and debilitating anxiety.
