Community Foundation Grants Funding to Volunteer Center

Money to support classes for nonprofits

Volunteer Center McHenry County is thrilled to receive $14,611.00 from The Community Foundation for McHenry County. These generous funds in partnership with other donors will make available 10 Northern Illinois University nonprofit capacity building classes for local nonprofit organizations. The classes will help nonprofits scale appropriately, develop leadership, and prepare for the future.

Volunteer Center McHenry County’s programs educate and resource local nonprofits so they can have a greater impact in building a supportive and inclusive quality of life for everyone in McHenry County. Northern Illinois University classes will give nonprofit agencies a better understand how to: develop accurate budgets; define performance measures; plan and develop needed projects; maintain necessary documentation; develop strong leadership and organizational capacity; and avoid mission drift. Classes encourage relationships and collaborations. Learning aside one another and building relationships will help tackle issues and build a community that works together.

Since 2001, The Community Foundation for McHenry County has connected the generosity of donors with community needs by making grants to organizations working to create a better quality of life throughout McHenry County. Philanthropic efforts for the county are coordinated and led by the team at The Community Foundation for McHenry County.

Volunteer Center McHenry County’s mission is building capacity of nonprofits. They aspire to be the premier agency helping local nonprofits flourish by developing standard educational programs, creating direct channels among nonprofits and volunteers, raising the ability of nonprofits to create diverse fundraising streams, and fostering collaborations and network groups that encourage relationship building.
