Crystal Lake Man Gets Prison For Child Sex Assault

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 38-year-old Crystal Lake man will spend 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to child porn and child sex assault charges, prosecutors said Tuesday. As part of a plea deal, Anthony Franklin entered guilty pleas to counts of possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony, and predatory criminal sexual assault, a class X felony, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

During Franklin's sentencing hearing, a McHenry County judge also ordered him to register for life as a sex offender, according to the news release.

The charges stem from a December 2017 investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department. Local authorities initially launched an investigation into the child porn allegations and later uncovered the predatory criminal sex assault case, prosecutors said.
