Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois to host "Finding Kind"

Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois (GOTRNWIL), along with the Raue Center for the Arts, is proud to host an exclusive screening of the documentary film, Finding Kind on January 8, 2011. This film explores the turmoil and lifelong emotional scars caused by girls mistreating each other and how we can unite to take a stand against this kind of behavior...and be kind.

Each one of us has experienced the pain and suffering bullying can spawn in a young woman's life.  "Mean girls" can spread their poison and infect otherwise well adjusted girls, and the damage can be life altering. Finding Kind is the documentary of the journey two college friends took to try and understand why girls can be so cruel to each other, especially during a time of their lives when they desperately need companionship. The film features interviews with girls and women who share their personal stories of how bullying has affected their lives and also includes interviews with respected experts in the fields of psychology and education who share their insights and perspectives on girl on girl bullying.  As part of a greater movement called the Kind Campaign, this film is a raw depiction of how devastating this behavior can be and how the "fix" is can only be achieved through the power of kindness.  We can all be kind.

GOTRNWIL supports the message of Finding Kind and invites the community to join them at one of the two exclusive Crystal Lake screenings. The film runs approximately 77 minutes in length and there will be a brief discussion period to follow. Bring your daughter, bring your friend, bring your spouse...bring your tissues.  Come prepared to be moved.
