Music from 17th and 18th Century Italy – Performed by the Antiqua Baroque Consort

The Antiqua Baroque Consort proudly presents a concert of Italian Baroque music, featuring selections by Alessandro and Domenico Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Frescobaldi, and Torelli. Additional works by Handel will also be featured. The chamber ensemble is comprised of: Dr. Mark Ponzo, Baroque trumpet and cornetto; Zenia Lee, soprano; and Emily Jane Morlan, harpsichord. An additional member, but not appearing on this program, is Casey McGrath, violin.

The Antiqua Baroque Consort draws upon the diverse backgrounds of its members to deliver engaging, educational, and enlightening programs of Baroque repertoire on period instruments. The ensemble most recently performed in Aurora University's Third Thursday concert series, debuting the university's new harpsichord. Other concert performances include at Baker United Methodist Church (St. Charles), St. Mary of the Annunciation (Mundelein), First Congregational United Church of Christ (DeKalb), and Northern Illinois University. The ensemble has presented lectures at Wheaton College, Trinity Christian College, and for numerous high school music programs in the suburban Chicago area.

Upcoming scheduled performances include: Lewis University (February 13), Yorkville High School (February 16), St. Mary of the Annunciation in Mundelein (February 18), Lincoln-Way Central High School (March 1), St. Paul of the Cross in Park Ridge (March 4), DePaul University (March 7), Harper College (March 8), and Community High School in West Chicago (March 16).
