'Guardian Angel' Leaves $2,500 Tip for Waitress in Crystal Lake
Imelda Murphy Sprenger is grateful for the tip, which is meant to pay for a trip to Ireland so she can visit her family.

A waitress at Nick’s Pub and Pizza got quite the surprise this past weekend when a mystery customer left a $2,500 tip.
Imelda Murphy Sprenger was working a busy Saturday shift when a group of customers, who she had become close to over the years and who had actually given her a $1,000 tip years ago so she could attend her sister’s wedding in Ireland, requested to sit in her section, NBC 5 Chicago reports.
During their visit, a woman in the group, Kim, gave Sprenger an envelope and told her it was from her “guardian angel,” according to the news report. Inside was the generous tip and a note that told Sprenger she should use the money to get back to visit Ireland -- where her family still lives.

Sprenger told NBC 5 Chicago she is “overwhelmingly grateful” to her “guardian angel.”
This isn't the first time a server at Nick's Pizza & Pub has received a generous tip. In June, a Crystal Lake teacher got a $1,500 tip while bartending at the Nick’s Pizza & Pub in Elgin.
