Hearing On Parental Rights For AJ's Brother Postponed
Authorities are waiting on results from a paternity test to see if Andrew Freund, 60, is the father of AJ Freund's younger brother.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A court hearing to determine parental rights for the younger brother of AJ Freund has been continued to a later date, the Daily Herald reports. The issue surrounding parental rights was brought up during a brief hearing in McHenry County on Thursday and postponed as authorities await the results of a paternity test for the brother of the 5-year-old Crystal Lake boy who police say was by his parents, JoAnn Cunningham, 36, and Andrew Freund, 60. Authorities are waiting on testing to determine if Andrew Freund is the younger boy's father, according to the Daily Herald.
AJ's younger brother has been "doing wonderfully," Jeanne A. Barrett, the court-appointed guardian, said Thursday. She would not share anymore information on his current living situation, according to the article.
AJ Freund was reported missing on April 18 by Andrew Freund. Authorities found the 5-year-old boy's body in a shallow grave near Woodstock days later. His parents have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with his death and remain in custody at the McHenry County Jail on a $5 million bail.
