K-9 Tracks Down Suspect After Crystal Lake Robbery

A 32-year-old Crystal Lake man is accused of walking into the Open Pantry and demanding money and merchandise.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A Crystal Lake man is facing felony charges after police said he robbed the Open Pantry food mart, 4811 Northwest Highway, early Saturday morning. Police said the man entered the convenience store at around 2:09 a.m. and demanded money and merchandise. The clerk complied with his demands, and the suspect fled the store on foot, police said.

No one was hurt in the incident, and the suspect was not armed, according to police.

Crystal Lake police, with assistance from a Lake County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit, tracked the suspect to his home in a neighborhood near the store, police said.

Police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Joshua D. Wilson. He was arrested on charges of robbery and burglary and taken to the McHenry County jail to await a bond hearing.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and was assisted by the McHenry County States Attorney’s Office and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
