Law License Of Andrew Freund Suspended ... Again
The 60-year-old man is accused of killing his son, A.J. Freund, this past April. He used to practice law out of his home at 92 Dole Avenue.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — The state's Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission has again suspended the law license of a 60-year-old former Crystal Lake attorney accused of murdering his son, A.J. Freund. The law license of Andrew Freund will remain suspended until the Illinois Supreme Court makes its ruling on the matter.
"The lawyer is not authorized to practice law during the period of the interim suspension," according to information on Freund's interim suspension, which took effect Monday. "The Court may terminate the interim suspension upon imposition of final discipline or under other circumstances as the Supreme Court deems just."
Andrew Freund and JoAnn Cunningham, 36, remain in custody on a $5 million bail on multiple felony charges, including murder, aggravated battery and concealing a homicidal death, in connection with the April beating death of their 5-year-old son, A.J. Freund. The boy would have started kindergarten this year in Crystal Lake.

It's not the first time Freund's license, which was most recently with the state in 2018, has been suspended.
In October 2015, the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission suspended Freund's license after the Crystal Lake attorney violated a court order while representing Cunningham in her divorce case.

During the divorce proceedings, Cunningham and Freund were held in indirect contempt of court for violating a court order that instructed Cunningham "and her agents" not to transfer, dispose, sell or damage any items in a McHenry home owned by Cunningham's husband at that time, Craig Summerkamp, Jr., according to court records obtained by Patch.
In an October 2012 petition for adjudication of indirect criminal contempt, Summerkamp's attorney states two flat screen TVs, a cable box, patio set, a furnace, towels and kitchen utensils were taken from the McHenry home. The items were then brought to Freund's home at 92 Dole Avenue where Cunningham was living, according to court documents.
Both Cunningham and Freund are due back in court at 9 a.m. on Sept. 26 in the criminal case in McHenry County.
