Man Driving Stolen Van When Busted for 6th DUI Gets 6 Years
A former Crystal Lake man is headed to prison for the August 2015 DUI arrest.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL -- A former Crystal Lake man who was arrested for his sixth drunken driving arrest back in 2015 has been sentenced to six years in prison. Jeffrey A. Hunt, 54, pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, a Class 1 felony, before a McHenry County judge handed down the prison sentence last week, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's office. The charge stems from his August 2015 arrest when authorities busted Hunt driving around drunk in a stolen vehicle, according to the Northwest Herald.
Prior to pulling him over, police said he was involved in a hit and run crash in Crystal Lake, according to prosecutors. Shortly after the crash, a Woodstock Police Department officer located Hunt's car driving on Route 14 and pulled it over.
The officer determined Hunt was under the influence of alcohol, prosecutors said. Hunt refused to perform field sobriety tests or submit a breath test to determine his alcohol concentration.
