MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 26-year-old Woodridge man has been sentenced to five years in prison for selling heroin to McHenry County residents, prosecutors said. Kenneth Harris was convicted on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance and three counts of drug-induced homicide were dismissed during a hearing this past week in McHenry County.

Authorities say Harris sold heroin to a person from McHenry who was later apprehended by police and charged with possession of a controlled substance. A follow-up investigation revealed Harris was selling heroin to McHenry County residents, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

Harris was charged following an investigation into the death of Charles D. McCoy, 28, of McHenry. McCoy died on Sept. 5, 2018. Gabriel A. Stanaszek, 21, of the 800 block of Buckingham Court in Crystal Lake, was also arrested and faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
