McHenry County Sex Crime Fugitive Arrested In Iowa
A 10-day manhunt eventually ended with him in custody. He's accused of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

AMES, IOWA — A McHenry County man was arrested in Iowa following a 10-day manhunt on suspicion of committing a sex crime, according to a press release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
Esau Ancheyta Hernandez, 26, a Mexican national, was found in an Ames, Iowa apartment hiding under a bed. He was taken into custody without incident. He was once deported in 2012 from southern California.
Hernandez is facing charges in Illinois for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, which he's alleged to have committed on Oct. 13. The charge is a class X offense.

McHenry County Sheriff Bill Prim said "We have been at great pains to locate him since the incident occurred."
A multi-jurisdictional search took place after the 911 call describing the sexual assault. Police used drones, K-9's a helicopter and more in the Illinois/Wisconsin state line area, but to no avail.

Hernandez was arrested in Ames and is being held on $250,000 bond, and his court date is to be determined.
