Music Lovers Invited to Free Organ Recital, Feb. 28, 4 pm.

Bethany Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, Fine Arts Series features Dr. John Sherer Virtuoso of Fourth Presbyterian Church, Chicago

The Bethany Arts Series of Bethany Lutheran Church, 76 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake presents an organ recital by John Sherer on the magnificent Clarence and Agnes Carlson Memorial Pipe Organ built by Hal Gober of Gober Organs of Elora, Canada. The performance is Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 4 pm.

Dr. Sherer has been hailed by critics as a Master of the Keyboard. Reviewers have praised him for both his remarkable virtuoso technique and sensitive musical sense. Since 1996, Dr. Sherer has been the Organist and Director of Music for the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago. Under his leadership, Fourth Church has been named by USA Today as one of the top ten places in America to be “enthralled by heavenly music.”

He has led several music missions and choir tours in the United States, England, France, Cuba and Guatemala. He was also recently selected as one of fifty prominent Chicagoans living with passion and purpose and was featured in the book, “Bright Lights of the Second City.”

The program will include music by Bextehude, Bach and Saint-Saens along with contemporary composers Enrico Bossi and Seth Bingham. You will not want to miss experiencing Bethany’s pipe organ played by a Master of the Keyboard. Bethany Lutheran Church is located at 76 W. Crystal Lake Avenue in Crystal Lake. There is no admission charge but a free-will offering will be taken.
