National Night Out Is Tuesday In Cary, Crystal Lake, Area Towns
Here is what you need to know if you plan to stop out to National Night Out events in the area on Tuesday.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – Police departments in Crystal Lake and Cary, as well as other police departments across McHenry County and the Chicago area, will be hosting National Night Out events on Tuesday, Aug. 7. National Night Out is an event meant to bring residents out to meet their neighbors and their local law enforcement agencies. The annual "community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live," according to the National Night Out website.
Thousands of communities across the U.S. will participate in National Night Out. Here is what you need to know if you would like to stop out to your town's event.
Crystal Lake Police Department National Night Out
- Where: Three Oaks Recreation Area, 5517 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake
- When: 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 7
There will be free parking available after 4:30 p.m..There will also be face painters, free bicycle helmet sizing and give away (while supplies last), food, Touch-a-Truck and much much more. The event is free.

Cary Police Department National Night Out
- Where: downtown Cary, West Main Street
- When: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 7
This year’s event will include many fun games with prizes, as well as a DJ, bouncy houses, balloon animals,
face painting, and cookie decorating. Bicycles, scooters, and helmets will also be raffled off at this event.
Attendees can meet officers from the Cary Police Department and members from the Cary Fire Department. Squad cars, fire engines and N.I.P.A.S armored vehicles will be on display and there will also be K-9 demonstrations. Food will also be available for purchase from Marcos, JC's Cafe, Lou Malnati's and Tropical Chill.
McHenry County National Night Out
- When: 5:30 to 8 p.m.
- Where: Peterson Park, 4300 Peterson Park Road, McHenry
The McHenry County Conservation District, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, city of McHenry Police Department and the Fire Protection Districts of McHenry & Wonder Lake will team up to present National Night Out Against Crime to promote crime prevention and safety programs, while strengthening police-community partnerships and encouraging neighborhood camaraderie. Stop by for complimentary food and beverages and enjoy the ongoing activities. Various police and fire equipment will be on display including a water hover craft and Flight for Life helicopter (pending availability). Booths include: Electronic Fingerprinting ID System for Children, Project S.W.E.E.P., Sheriff’s Office Explorer, Volunteer and other programs. Special demonstration will include vehicle extrication demonstration by the Fire Protection Districts of McHenry & Wonder Lake, a precision motorcycle riding demo from the McHenry County Conservation District & McHenry County Sheriff’s Motor Units and a Police K9 demo from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office
