Police Warn Residents To 'Stay Indoors,' Avoid Portion of Town
The warning comes after increased police activity in the area of Fair Oaks Lane and Charlotte Avenue in Crystal Lake Monday night.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL -- Police activity in Crystal Lake has authorities warning nearby residents to "stay indoors," according to a Nixle alert sent out at about 9:10 p.m. Monday. Authorities responded to the area of Fair Oaks Lane and Charlotte Avenue, according to the alert.
"If in the area, please stay indoors until further notice," according to the alert.
The rest of residents should avoid the area, police said.

The Lake & McHenry County Scanner Facebook page, which is a popular social media site that posts police scanner reports, noted the incident involved a person armed with a knife who had barricaded themselves inside a home. Numerous police officers and SWAT units were on the scene as of 9:12 p.m.
