John Reinert files petitions in state capitol to run for State Senate seat vacated by Pamela Althoff.

CRYSTAL LAKE – Longtime Crystal Lake business leader and McHenry County Board Member John Reinert filed over 2,000 signatures from local residents seeking to change in the way government in Illinois is managed. Reinert filed the signatures December 4th along with the economic ethics disclosures necessary for a citizen to appear on the official ballot as a candidate for Republican nomination for Senator.
“As a first time candidate for state office, I had to travel to Springfield to file my petitions to qualify a spot on the Republican ballot. I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency the State Board of Elections showed in processing the hundreds of candidates filing at 8:00 AM on the first day of eligibility,” said Reinert.
Any person seeking to run for public office In Illinois has to prove he or she has enough community support to justify being placed on the ballot. “Illinois is currently broke because of decades of irresponsible fiscal decisions and unsustainable government employee salary, benefit and pension increases. Mike Madigan and the Democrats have put our families in a deep hole and keep digging despite Illinois being in junk bond credit status territory,” said Reinert. “I know I will be required to propose drastic action that involve less spending along with less taxation, including efforts to roll back the most recent tax increase forced on us by the Democrats. As a longtime business owner who has weathered good times and bad, I know we all need to live within our means in order to succeed in the long term.”
Reinert is being challenged for the Republican State Senate nomination by recent east coast transplant Craig Wilcox, a retired military veteran.
