Fire Puts a Dozen Families Out of Lake Villa Apartments
The fire broke out around 3 p.m. on Christmas Day.
A dozen families were put out of their homes on Christmas Day because of an apartment-complex fire in Lake Villa. The blaze broke out shortly after 2:45 p.m. in the 0-100 block of Cedar Avenue. The fire was contained to the third floor, but firefighters encountered heavy flames, according to the Lake Villa Fire Protection District.
The rest of the apartments in the building suffered heavy smoke and water damage. The Chicago Red Cross is assisting some of the residents in finding places to stay.
