Child Locked in Closet for Bad Grades, How Do You Handle Poor Report Cards?

Some children get bad grades. It can happen for a number of reasons. Some students don't put in enough effort and some just can't handle certain classes.

It could be a learning disability or something at home that is bothering the student enough to bring down his or her grades.

Maybe the teacher isn't very affective or maybe the teacher is unfair.

Parents need to find out what exactly caused their child's grades to end up so poor.

And what can a parent do to bring those grades up?

One parent took things too far and has been arrested for her extreme approach.

According to the Huffington Post, a 32-year-old woman was charged with one misdemeanor count of child abuse for locking her daughter in a closet for 6 hours because she earned bad grades, the Daily Pilot reports.

Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Phil Myers told the paper that the mother also hit the 13-year-old three times with a stick.

A "concerned party" reported the incident, and the woman was arrested within hours, according to KTLA.

The girl is now in the care of the Orangewood Children & Family Center, according to the Los Angeles Times, and the mother is scheduled to appear back in court on Dec. 29.

This is certainly not a reaction that is recommended when your child comes home with a less that desirable report card.

Taking away television time, video games or phone time is one way to deal with this.
