• Darien Tries Again To Kill Decades-Old Environmental Committee (patch.com) — Darien residents may soon see the end of the city's nearly 40-year-old Environmental Committee, as the City Council prepares to vote on disbanding it after a yearlong trial period. City officials say the panel has struggled with quorums, agenda topics, and responsiveness, and suggest environmental efforts may be better handled by independent local clubs rather than a formal city committee.
   

• Darien System Not Surveillance, But Tracks Speeding Problems: Official (patch.com) — Darien police are using a data system that maps speeding trends on local streets without identifying individual drivers, despite some residents' fears of an AI surveillance tool. Officials say the Urban SDK subscription helps them quickly check neighborhood speeding complaints and has already shown no serious speeding issues in several Darien areas, saving time and equipment costs.
   

• Darien Woman Charged With Domestic Battery, Taken To County Jail (patch.com) — Darien police report that a 37-year-old local woman was arrested at her High Road home on a domestic battery charge and taken to DuPage County Jail. In a separate incident, a 46-year-old Darien man was stopped on Plainfield Road and charged with driving on a revoked license and without insurance, then also taken to jail on an outstanding warrant.
