See Video Of Shirtless Darien Home Invasion Suspect (patch.com) — Darien residents can now see newly released police video tied to an Aug. 4 home invasion on Sequoia Lane, where a resident was injured and his phone stolen. The footage shows officers surrounding a Homer Glen house for hours before arresting 32-year-old Michael Lahey, who faces multiple felony charges connected to the Darien incident.

Hinsdale District 86 Mulls Tax Hike For $39M In Projects (patch.com) — Hinsdale High School District 86, which includes Darien's Hinsdale South, is considering a property tax increase to fund $39 million in life-safety building projects, including a major heating plant replacement at Central. For a median $570,000 home, taxes would rise about $83 the first year, then roughly $10 more annually over the next decade without a voter referendum.

Man Accused Of Trespassing Twice At Same Darien Business (patch.com) — Darien police report that a Chicago man was cited twice for trespassing at the Speedway on Cass Avenue and released with court dates both times. In a separate incident, officers arrested another Chicago man found sleeping in his car at North Frontage and Bailey roads, charging him with DUI and alcohol-related offenses before releasing him with a court date.

New Darien Police Chief Nominated, Replacing Retiring Leader (patch.com) — Darien's mayor has nominated Deputy Chief Austin Jump to become the city's next police chief, with the City Council set to vote on Sept. 8 and a planned Nov. 14 start date. Jump, a longtime Darien officer honored for lifesaving work, would replace retiring Chief Greg Thomas and continue leading one of the region's safest communities.

Central, South Teaming Up With Tech Giant On AI (patch.com) — Hinsdale High School District 86, which serves Darien's Hinsdale South students, is moving ahead with a free pilot AI program in partnership with Nvidia at Central and South. Officials say the agreement restricts use of student data, while supporters tout new AI coursework and credentials and critics remain wary of Big Tech's role in classrooms.
