Adlai Stevenson III Endorses Rotering

The former U.S. Senator from Illinois switches his endorsement from Brad Schneider to the Highland Park Mayor.

Former United States Senator Adlai Stevenson III has endorsed Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering for United States Congress in Illinois’ 10th District.

“I am endorsing Nancy Rotering because America needs more statesmen and fewer politicians,”said Stevenson, who represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate from 1970-1981. “Nancy is a hard-working and independent public servant who has a strong record of doing what’s right for the people she serves.”

Rotering said she was “honored” to receive the endorsement of Stevenson and his wife, Nancy.

“The Stevensons are leaders who have dedicated their lives to advocacy and democracy,” she said. “They understand the value of rigorous diplomacy as the first approach to protect us here at home and globally, both today and for future generations. I am proud to have their support.”

Stevenson III is the second high-profile Illinois Democrat to switch his endorsement from former 10th District Congressman Brad Schneider to Rotering. Former 10th District Rep. Abner Mikva recently announced his endorsement of Rotering as well.

“The Democratic party has room for respectful disagreement on issues,” said Kyle Quinn, Schneider for Congress campaign manager. “Brad continues to be focused on doing what’s right for the people of the 10th district, regardless of politics.”

Rotering faces Schneider in the 2016 Democratic primary. The winner will face incumbent Robert Dold, R-Kenilworth in the general election.
