All creatures and their human friends are invited to the front lawn of the First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield on September 21st at 3:00 p.m. for the second annual Blessing of the Animals. The church welcomes residents of Deerfield and local communities to participate in this family activity.
The Blessing of the Animals celebrates the special connection and love that owners have for their pets. It also recognizes the caregiving that is expressed daily by young and old alike as they raise pets. Last year’s event attracted a wide variety of furry, feathered and reptilian friends. All pets should be managed on a leash or in a cage or container. Anyone who has a sick or immobile pet or one that is deceased is welcome to bring a leash or other memento to participate in a remembrance.
The church is located at 824 Waukegan Road in downtown Deerfield. In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors. For directions to the church or other information, visit its website, www.firstpresdf.org.
