D-113 Board Wants PARCC Replaced
Letter sent to state officials urges reexamination of assessment.

The Township High School District 113 board of education sent a letter to state officials expressing significant concerns and requesting them to re-examine the new Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) assessment.
The letter, sent to Governor Bruce Rauner, State Superintendent Dr. Christopher Koch, State Senator John Cullerton, Speaker of the House Michael Madigan, State Senator Julie Morrison and State Representative Scott Drury, also requested the end-of-the-year portion of the exam be eliminated and replaced with “an assessment such as the ACT Aspire that aligns with the Common Core State Standards and is recognized by colleges and universities across the nation,” according to a news release issued Thursday.
PARCC tests are being administered for the first time at schools in Illinois in two parts this year, one this month and another at the end of the year.
