Deerfield resident Dr. Aaron Rosenberg honored with distinguished academic award
Dr. Aaron Rosenberg honored with Endowed Chair.

Aaron Rosenberg, M.D., Professor of Surgery at Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), orthopedic surgeon at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR) and resident of Deerfield, IL, has had a chair endowed in his name at RUMC. An Endowed Chair is the highest academic award that an institution can give a faculty member.
Craig Silverton, D.O., former fellow of Dr. Rosenberg, organized the initiative among the surgeon’s former fellows, including many of his current Rush colleagues, to raise the two million dollars required to establish this chair in his honor. The Aaron G. Rosenberg, MD, Chair of Orthopedic Surgery is the 94th endowed chair at Rush University Medical Center, and the only chair established by the efforts of a professor’s former students.
“I am humbled to receive this award,” said Rosenberg. “I am most grateful that this acknowledgement comes from my former fellows, many of whom are amongst the most accomplished and highly respected orthopedic surgeons today.”

Endowed chairs are distinguished faculty positions at academic institutions. To establish an endowed chair, finances are raised and then invested to fund the position for the life of the institution. The funds generated can be used to propel medical research, give students the opportunity to interact with talented scholars and help provide Rush University with a competitive edge in recruiting outstanding faculty.
