Fire Destroys Deerfield House

RIVERWOODS, IL — A fire tore through a home Tuesday in unincorporated Deerfield, causing an estimated $150,000 in damage, Pioneer Press reports. Fire crews dispatched to a report of a chimney fire arrived to find a two-story home ablaze in the 1500 block of Garden Court, located in a subdivision between Buffalo Grove and Riverwoods.

The home was empty for remodeling, save for one person who was in the house working at the time, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods fire officials told the Deerfield Review.

Renovations will have to start anew, as firefighters described the wood-framed house as a "total loss."

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
