More Than 50 North Shore Runners Finish the Boston Marathon
Douglas Baker, of Winnetka, earned the best time among area marathoners in Monday's race.

More than 50 North Shore runners competed in and completed Monday's running of the Boston Marathon.
Douglas Baker, of Winnetka, earned the best time among the 64 North Shore runners in the marathon, finishing the race with a net time of 3 hours, 4 minutes and 15 seconds, according to the marathon's unofficial results.

The top three finishers were Ethiopians. Lemi Berhanu Hayle won the Men’s Marathon, besting defending champ Lelisa Desisa at 2:12:45, very modest for a Boston-winning time. Adhane Tsegay clocked in at 2:14:02.
For the first time since 1986, a Massachusetts native finished in the men's top 10. Zachary Hines, a South Hadley native who lives in Dallas, finished 10th with a time of 2:21:37.
